Strategic Public Information and Engagement Technology Plans
In 2017 Sustainable Jersey provided technology management assistance to two pilot municipalities, Chatham Borough and Franklin Township (Hunterdon), focused on aiding in the implementation of various elements within our Public Information & Engagement (PIE) actions using a wide array of digital technology methods. Over the course of three months, key staff and stakeholders in both towns were interviewed to learn more about their public engagement and technology goals, experience with technology platforms, and the opportunities and challenges presented by existing resources.
A Strategic Public Information and Engagement Technology Plan was developed as a roadmap for each town to achieve its public information and engagement goals, thereby creating a more efficient and effective government. Through these plans, it is the expectation that both towns will achieve a more effective service delivery model for their citizens through online services, efficient communication paths, and better governance of their technology processes and procedures, creating new avenues for improving workflow inside of the municipal governments.
