Sustainable Jersey Grants & Technical Assistance Programs

Sustainable Jersey strives to connect participating communities with financial and technical resources to successfully complete actions and make progress towards a sustainable future. To that end, we directly offer multiple competitive grant and technical assistance opportunities funded by program underwriters and partner organizations each year. In addition, we maintain a funding database that includes other opportunities offered by a wide range of government agencies, foundations, corporations, and non-profit organizations.

2021 EDF Climate Corps Program

Sustainable Jersey is pleased to offer municipalities and school districts registered in Sustainable Jersey or Sustainable Jersey for Schools the opportunity to participate in the 2021 Environmental Defense Fund's (EDF) Climate Corps Program.  EDF Climate Corps Fellows provide no-cost expertise and support for school districts and municipalities to take advantage of New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) and utility incentives (such as NJNG’s SAVEGREEN Project and SJG’s Smart Energy Partners program) for energy efficiency audits and facility and/or equipment upgrades to help save energy and money.  For more information click here.

Application Deadline EXTENDED: Wednesday, April 7, 2021 April 21, 2021

Since 2009, Sustainable Jersey has awarded $6.3 million in grants to participating municipalities and school districts.

Sustainable Jersey grants not only provide crucial financial support for projects that might otherwise not materialize, but also enable towns to complete actions that contribute toward certification.  Review the Actions page for ideas on possible projects.  All actions have a Resources section with organizations that can help with project completion.
