Sixteen Municipalities To Receive Energy Efficiency Assistance Through the Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program

Program provides support and funding for municipalities to take actions that lower emissions

Today, Sustainable Jersey is announcing that 16 municipalities will receive energy efficiency technical assistance and $2,500 grants through the Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program. The program provides support, resources, and funding for municipalities to take actions that lower emissions in their buildings and help residents and local businesses do the same.

The municipalities selected through the application process are:

Residential Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign

  • Bergen County: Glen Rock Borough
  • Burlington County: Moorestown Township
  • Camden County: Audubon Borough, Barrington Borough, Haddonfield Borough
  • Essex County: City of Orange, Irvington Township, Montclair Township
  • Mercer County: Municipality of Princeton
  • Somerset County: Somerville Borough Commercial

Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign

  •  Essex County: West Orange Township

Technical Assistance for Energy Efficiency in Municipal Facilities

  • Bergen County: Saddle Brook Township, Rutherford Borough, Bogota Borough
  • Burlington County: Palmyra Borough
  • Passaic County: Prospect Park Borough

Each municipality selected the type of preferred assistance when applying to the program. The options include Residential Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign; Technical Assistance for Energy Efficiency in Municipal Facilities; and Commercial Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign. The $2,500 startup grant the municipalities receive will support efforts in the selected program track.

“Energy efficiency is a strategy for combating climate change that can help lower customers’ bills,” said Susanna Chiu, senior director, Energy Solutions for PSE&G. “The Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Partnership Program empowers municipalities and their residents to better manage energy use and leverage PSE&G’s energy efficiency programs and incentives.” PSE&G is New Jersey’s largest utility with 2.3 million electric customers and 1.9 million gas customers.

In September 2020, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities approved PSE&G’s Clean Energy Future Energy Efficiency Program, clearing the way for PSE&G to commit $1 billion toward energy efficiency over three years. It is the largest commitment to energy efficiency in New Jersey history and includes 10 programs tailored to help residential and commercial customers reduce their energy use with energy-efficient equipment, technologies and strategies.
