Eligible municipalities encouraged to apply to the Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program to receive customized support, tools and resources

Today, Sustainable Jersey and PSE&G announced the launch of the Energy Efficiency Partnership Program, which is designed to help residents and businesses better manage energy use and leverage PSE&G’s energy efficiency programs and incentives. Municipalities that are 100% served by PSE&G for both electricity and natural gas are encouraged to apply for the Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program.

The Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program offers wraparound support, customized resources and flexible funding options for municipalities to take actions that lower emissions in their buildings, and help residents and local businesses do the same. Eighty-two percent of municipalities are participating in the Sustainable Jersey program and 91% of New Jersey’s population lives in these communities.

“Energy efficiency is a strategy for combating climate change that can help lower customers’ bills,” said Susanna Chiu, senior director, Energy Solutions for PSE&G. “The Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Partnership Program empowers municipalities and their residents to better manage energy use and leverage PSE&G’s energy efficiency programs and incentives.” PSE&G is New Jersey’s largest utility with 2.3 million electric customers and 1.9 million gas customers.

As part of this program, Sustainable Jersey will provide municipalities with customized support and a robust suite of tools and resources to maximize success in three available program tracks: Residential Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign; Commercial Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign; and Technical Assistance for Energy Efficiency in Municipal Facilities.

"Only a small percent of New Jersey homes and small businesses have taken steps to make their buildings more energy efficient. The Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program was established to change this,” said Randall Solomon, director of Sustainable Jersey. “Sustainable Jersey wants to help municipalities save money and energy and make their municipal and commercial facilities, as well as the homes and businesses in their communities, more comfortable and healthier. Community energy efficiency outreach campaigns are a key element of the Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Partnership Program. This is where we can have the largest impact, and why Sustainable Jersey is so committed to supporting outreach campaigns with the resources made possible by support from PSE&G.”

In September 2020, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities approved PSE&G’s Clean Energy Future Energy Efficiency Program, clearing the way for PSE&G to commit $1 billion toward energy efficiency over three years. It is the largest commitment to energy efficiency in New Jersey history and includes 10 programs tailored to help residential and commercial customers reduce their energy use with energy-efficient equipment, technologies and strategies.
