Gold Star Standard in Water
Program Summary: The Township is over 350 years old, consists of ten unincorporated towns, and encompasses approximately 24 square miles, including approximately 3,000 acres of regulated (tidal and fluvial) floodplains, two watersheds, and nine sub-watersheds. The Township's Water Story tells how we are proactively preparing for future storms and help prevent losses due to storm-related conditions, and doing so in a manner to enhance natural areas, foster ecosystem services, provide equitable access to waterways, improve storm-water management through green infrastructure, ensure safe access to potable water, and proper maintenance and monitoring of sanitary sewage in order to protect public health and water quality. Our navigational path is in response to the findings of our water story and contains the rationale for focusing on open space and watershed master planning as two upcoming essential strategies. Further the Township's navigational path lays out our efforts to date as well proposed positive steps forward, and our goal to continue to demonstrate leadership with regard to progressive approaches to protecting water resources and all life which depends on them.
