Free Energy Technical Assistance for Municipalities and School Districts in Elizabethtown Gas, New Jersey Natural Gas, and South Jersey Gas Service Territories
Sustainable Jersey is pleased to offer free energy technical assistance for energy projects to municipalities and school districts registered in the Sustainable Jersey or Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification program. This technical assistance will be tailored to the needs of the participating entity and may include one or more of the following:
- Assistance in understanding energy use in municipal/school facilities and establishing an energy tracking and management process to track energy use and energy savings over time.
- Guidance to take advantage of utility and New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) incentives for energy efficiency audits and facility upgrades to help save energy and money. Further detail on utility incentives can be found:
- Municipalities can request assistance planning an energy efficiency outreach campaign to help residents or businesses benefit from utility and New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) incentives.
Who is Eligible?
Municipalities and school districts located in municipalities in Elizabethtown Gas (ETG), New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), and South Jersey Gas (SJG) service territories registered in the Sustainable Jersey or Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification program are invited to sign up.
This program provides no-cost assistance to municipalities and school districts to support efforts that will improve building performance through energy efficiency analysis, planning, and upgrades. The scope of technical assistance will be tailored to the needs of each municipality or school district.
Municipalities and school districts will work directly with Sustainable Jersey staff to identify funding resources to implement energy projects to make their facilities more energy efficient.
Elected officials, staff, or green team members can be the project leads for the technical assistance program. The business administrator for the participating entity is required to attend the first virtual meeting.
Once a municipality or school completes the online form below, they will receive a confirmation email and the assigned technical assistance representative will reach out to set up a meeting with the municipal or school district team.
The New Jersey Clean Energy Act became law in 2018 and set ambitious energy reduction targets. The law identified New Jersey’s public utilities as the entities that would be responsible for implementing many key energy efficiency programs. Thanks to generous support from Elizabethtown Gas, New Jersey Natural Gas, and South Jersey Gas, Sustainable Jersey is able to offer technical assistance programs to help municipalities and K-12 public schools, and residents and small businesses take advantage of these lucrative programs.
The program will accept participants on a rolling basis beginning in May 2023 and continue until funding is expended for the 2023 program year.
