Since 2009, Sustainable Jersey has registered more over 444 municipalities in our program and actively certified nearly 200 communities from around the State. Participating municipalities have completed over 6,000 actions and are putting comprehensive sustainability programs in place in their communities.
In addition to our certification program, Sustainable Jersey has worked with our sponsors to award over 300 grants to New Jersey municipalities for sustainability projects that make communities more liveable, environmentally friendly and prosperous. Sustainable Jersey completes approximately 80 trainings and events each year to educate our participants and is constantly updating our program with best practices. Our Sustainable Jersey for Schools program launched in 2014, rolling out a certification program for schools and school districts across the state, and our NJ Resiliency Network is now matching municipalities' recovery and resiliency needs with resources provided by government, private, non-profit and academic organizations.
We need your help to continue this programing! Supporting Sustainable Jersey through a corporate sponsorship or individual donation is a clear way to demonstrate your support for a healthy and sustainable New Jersey and world. Together, we can provide communities with the tools and resources they need to work toward the future we want.
As a standards setting organization, we have a fundraising strategy that is designed to protect our independent decision making. Our goal is to have one-third of our funding from corporations and the private sector, one-third from government sources, and one-third from philanthropic foundations. Our fundraising balance enables us to be independent, and not beholden to any one source of funding or sector of funding.
