Sustainable Jersey recognizes Prudential with Sustainable Business Leadership Award

Sustainable Jersey presented Prudential Financial, Inc. with the Sustainable BusinessRandall Solomon, Co-Director, Sustainable Jersey and Suzanne Klatt, Director of Environment and Sustainability for Prudential.  Leadership Award which recognizes companies in New Jersey that support the Sustainable Jersey mission and demonstrate a significant commitment to sustainability in New Jersey.

Prudential is an excellent example of how business can take social and community responsibility seriously and contribute locally to improving the quality of life in New Jersey. “Prudential has taken exemplary steps to reduce the company’s environmental footprint and have made a commitment to impact investment. As part of Prudential’s corporate social responsibility commitments, Prudential has focused on urban renewal, equity issues and education in the City of Newark,” said Randall Solomon, co-director of Sustainable Jersey. Prudential has also prioritized its understanding of climate and energy and is a signatory of the Geneva Association’s Statement on Climate Risk. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Prudential stepped outside of its core funding areas to provide funding to address an emergency that was impacting the community.

Prudential has called New Jersey, and specifically Newark, home since the company was founded over 140 years ago. “As we have evolved into a global financial services leader, Prudential has stayed true to our legacy of being a responsible company,” said Suzanne Klatt, the director of environment and sustainability for Prudential. “This is evident in our hometown of Newark, where we make long-term investments to enhance the city’s civic infrastructure and boost economic development in the city for its residents, the larger community and the state of New Jersey. Prudential is proud of the important sustainability initiatives we pursue, both in New Jersey, and on a global scale. This award recognizes our hard work,” Klatt added.
