Sustainable Jersey and its program partners regularly host trainings and events that support progress toward Sustainable Jersey certification. In general, events posted on the calendar are FREE or of minimal cost.

New Jersey Future and the New Jersey Chapter of the American Planning Association will hold this three-day conference convening virtually on June 5–6 and in person on Friday, June 7, at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick. The conference will feature a multitude of timely sessions and bring together hundreds of visionary New Jersey professionals, elected officials, and community activists who share a passion and commitment to the Garden State. Lauren Skowronski, Assistant Director, will speak during the session, "For the Well of It: Achieving Health Equity in Franklin Township & North Trenton," on June 5, 2024, from 9:00am to 10:00am. The session will spotlight recent efforts in health equity. Franklin Township's completion of the Local Health Assessment and Action Plan, backed by Sustainable Jersey, demonstrates inclusive data collection for addressing disparities. In Trenton, the Trenton Neighborhood Initiative, led by Capital Health, showcases effective partnership models to implement community-driven plans. Attendees will gain insights into promoting health equity and leveraging partnerships for change.

Anne Heasly, Program Manager for Policy and Planning, will speak on June 7, 2024, from 10:45am to 12:00pm during the session "From Assessment to Adaptation: Getting Climate-Ready in No Time, One Step at a Time". The session will guide towns through MLUL-compliant climate change hazard assessments. Attendees will learn about assessment processes, receive a hands-on demonstration of Rutgers' climate hazard analysis tools, and explore case examples using the NJ Adapt Local Planning Navigator. They'll also gain insights into methodologies for vulnerability analysis and strategies to enhance adaptive capacity, along with information about the NJDEP Resilient NJ program.
