Solar Landscape Receives the 2022 Sustainable Business Leadership Award

on Nov 16, 2022

Sustainable Jersey presented Solar Landscape with the 2022 Sustainable Business Leadership Award in front of a capacity crowd at the Sheraton Hotel in Atlantic City. The annual award recognizes a company in New Jersey that has demonstrated a significant commitment to the core sustainability principles of people, planet and prosperity, along with strong support for values that the Sustainable Jersey program advances.

Yvette Viasus, Community Solar Engagement Manager for Solar Landscape, accepted the award at Sustainable Jersey’s Annual Luncheon at the New Jersey League of Municipalities Conference. Viasus said, “We’re honored to receive this recognition from Sustainable Jersey. Our shared goals of people, planet and prosperity are a perfect match for the state’s community solar program, which is advancing clean energy equity and climate justice and helping create the workforce necessary to support our clean energy economy.”

Thanks to the state’s community solar program, administrated by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, Asbury Park-based Solar Landscape is making renewable solar energy accessible to more than 11,000 New Jersey residents – most of them low- and moderate- income (LMI) households, making it the nation’s largest clean energy portfolio specifically designated for LMI communities. As part of its participation in community solar, the company works with local and national partners to train New Jersey residents in solar installation and educate students about career opportunities in clean energy.

Sustainable Jersey Director Randall Solomon said, “Solar Landscape embodies the values and advances the cause of the green economy and the net zero transition. The company is genuinely committed to developing new and more sustainable ways of doing business and can demonstrate tangible progress towards ambitious sustainable goals.” He added, “Solar Landscape is an example of how a company can take sustainability and community responsibility seriously and contribute locally to improving the quality of life in New Jersey. This is evident as Solar Landscape empowers communities and residents by providing low-cost clean energy and workforce development training.”
