West Orange Walkable Community Workshop
It is not too late to provide input or ask questions!
The Township of West Orange is interested in improving pedestrian connections along Washington Street, Main Street, and Franklin Avenue which connects the downtown district with nearby schools, parks and residential areas.
Public Meeting Recording - September 17, 2020
On September 17, 2020 a virtual public input meeting was led by staff at the Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) at Rutgers University where participants learned about the walk audit findings, viewed the initial design concepts and provided feedback. The final product, a Walkable Community Workshop Report, prepared by VTC will recommend a variety of changes to make walking a safer and more attractive option for residents of all ages and abilities.
Interested parties are encouraged to view the meeting recording and provide comments.

Walkable Community Workshop
On July 29, 2020 a virtual workshop was held where participants learned to identify safety concerns for pedestrians and discussed possible solutions. Suggestions made during the workshop, as well as any additional comments received by the August 13 deadline, will be compiled into a final report with recommendations to make walking a safer and more attractive option for residents of all ages and abilities. Interested parties are encouraged to view the workshop recording, download and complete the walk audit form, and provide comment.
Submit Walk Audit Forms
Following the workshop, members of the public submitted walk audit forms, comments and photographs that assisted the project team in preparing the recommendations and final report.

About the Complete Streets Technical Assistance Program
The Township of West Orange is currently participating in the Complete Streets Technical Assistance Program, a collaboration between Sustainable Jersey, the Voorhees Transportation Center at Rutgers University, and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA). Funded by the NJTPA, the program is designed to support municipal government efforts to advance complete streets initiatives.
