Energy Project Technical Assistance

Sustainable Jersey is pleased to offer New Jersey municipalities and school districts a unique opportunity to participate in the Environmental Defense Fund's (EDF) Climate Corps Program.

The program will provide an EDF Climate Corps Fellow, typically a Master's Student (MBA or similar background), with in-depth training in energy project assessment and development to work with municipalities and school district during the summer of 2020 for approximately 9-10 weeks. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fellows will work remotely. Participating municipalities and schools should be prepared to support collaborative work in an on-line work environment, including providing key information such as utility data.

EDF Fellows provide expertise to help municipalities and school districts take advantage of utility and New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) incentives for energy efficiency audits and facility and/or equipment upgrades that can save significant amounts of energy and money.

The EDF Fellows will be supervised by members of the Sustainable Jersey Energy Team and will work with municipalities and school districts to implement and complete submissions for Sustainable Jersey municipal and school energy actions including but not limited to:

  • Energy Tracking and Management (including Benchmarking)
  • Energy Efficiency for Municipal and School Facilities
  • Fleet Inventory

They will also help identify potential projects for the Sustainable Jersey Grants Program. The exact work program will depend on what energy work has already been completed as well as municipal or district priorities for building energy upgrades.

Application Deadline EXTENDED: Friday, April 17

EDF Fellows are available to municipalities and schools within the New Jersey Natural Gas territory and distressed municipalities throughout New Jersey.  Use the links below to view more information on each opportunity. Municipalities should only submit ONE application. Applicants will be considered for all eligible opportunities.
