The Association of Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) and other experts will hold this training focused on Environmental Commissions (EC).  Topics include: responsibilities and powers of an EC; funding opportunities; site plan review; creating/updating and ERI/NRI; Municipal Master Plan; and reviewing and updating ordinances.  Points are eligible in the Sustainable Jersey program for completion of the Environmental Commission, EC Site Plan Review, and Natural Resources Inventory action.  For more information, visit their website.

Dr. Vandana Shiva Keynote Address

The College of New Jersey, will host Dr. Vandana Shiva, an internationally renowned environmentalist and advocate for food justice, biodiverse agriculture, and small farms the evening of Thursday, April 12, for a Keynote Address following a day of dialogue presentations.   A leader in efforts to build international networks among groups marginalized by global economic forces, Shiva advises governments and organizations globally, including Women’s Environment and Development Organization and the Asia Pacific People’s Environment Movement. Among her awards are the Alternative Nobel Prize and the Sydney Peace Prize. She has authored more than 20 books, including Water Wars: Privatization, Pollution, and Profit (2002), Earth Democracy: Justice, Sustainability, and Peace (2005), and Soil Not Oil (2008).  If you would like to submit questions in advance to Dr. Shiva, email Janet Gray at gray@tcnj.edu.
