Local Governmental Interventions to Urban Public Health Challenges: A Case for Local Food Entrepreneurship

March 30, 2017 - 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm

Earth and Environmental Sciences Dept., Rutgers

Smith Hall Seminar Room 125 Rutgers University 101 Warren Street, Newark, NJ 07102

Many urban Americans struggle to be healthy in the face of economic and built environment factors that create inadequate urban food systems. Local urban governments face significant challenges in mitigating these factors. This lecture explores some of these challenges as well as proposes the need for local government promotion of local food entrepreneurship as an additional way to prompt healthier citizens.  For more information contact Deborah Greenwood, PhD, Director, Newark Environmental Sustainability Institute (NESI), at 973-353-2738  or deborah.greenwood@rutgers.edu
