The 2017 Annual Edison Earth Day Celebration will be co-presented by the Township of Edison, Edison Sustainable Jersey Green Team (ESJGT), Edison Clean Communities Program (ECCP) and Edison Township Environmental Commission (ETEC). The free, annual, outdoor, green/sustainable event will be staged at Papaianni Park. A number of green/sustainable Presenters, Exhibitors, Vendors and Speakers are also planned. Event activities include: Volunteer Plantings, Site Cleaning, Organic Debris Consolidation and many other Green/Sustainable Actions; On-Site Air/Soil/Water Environmental Testing; Eco-Tour and Discussion of Papaianni Lake; Rock Wall and Bunge; Bounce Tent; Concurrent EREC Fishing Derby; MCDEH Rain Barrel Demonstration/Free Raffle; and other green/sustainable activities.

This event, produced by New Jersey Creative Placemakers, the South Jersey Cultural Alliance, and Noyes Museum of Art, will highlight the new, FREE guidebook, "How to Do Creative Placemaking," from the National Endowment of Arts Our Town program. It offers ideas and guidelines from successful creative placemakers throughout the United States.
NEA Design Specialist Katherine Bray-Simons will talk about the book and join a conversation with participants about creative placemaking. There will also be plenty of time for networking, and light refreshments will be served.

Sustainable Verona and the Township of Verona will hold its 3rd Annual Verona Green Fair, Saturday, May 20, from 11am-4pm in the Verona Civic Center. The rain date will be Sunday, May 21st. This event is free and will feature many different types of vendors, exhibitions and demonstrations, children’s games and learning experiences, a shredding event, medicine drop-off, health, wellness and nutrition information, speakers, live music, various local food vendors, fresh organic produce and much more! The Verona High School Student Council will also be holding their Town Wide Garage Sale the same day and the Art in the Park event in Verona Park will be going on all weekend as well. Sustainable Verona strives to raise awareness about environmental issues, innovative sustainability ideas and to showcase the steps people and their community can take to sustain their quality of life over the long term. People of all ages are encouraged to come and explore the world of sustainability, eat, play and have some fun!
